Thoughts on the Reshuffle

All the Labour centre left team are gone - Twigg, Byrne, and the impressive Jim Murphy, who I have always had a lot of time for.The Labour party are now very much in a left wing image of Ed.

As for the PM's reshuffle everyone in the Home Office stays the same save that we will be welcoming Norman Baker to replace Jeremy Browne as our Lib Dem colleague. I am a big fan of Alastair Carmichael, who was a brilliant Lid Dem chief whip in difficult times, and who will be an asset to the Better Together campaign. On the Conservative side my quick thoughts are that it is great that my mate Kris Hopkins gets a long overdue promotion, as do stars like Jane Ellison, Nicky Morgan and Amber Rudd. Anyone who knows Robert Goodwill knows that this is a brilliant appointment to Transport. I will be looking forward to welcoming him north of Scarborough to Northumberland soon. The decisions on Esther McVey and the very robust Mike Penning are very sound. Commiserations to those demoted.
