Flooding in Northumberland - police travel + Environmental Agency advice - don't go out unless absolutely necessary

Flood warnings are still in place at several points along the River Tyne as water levels continue to rise.
At Corbridge the river has risen to a record level of 5.37m - over 17ft. At Bywell, near Stocksfield, the river is at 6.14m - over 20ft - and still rising and at Riding Mill it has reached a level of 5.13m - over 16.8ft.
The Anick Road from Hexham to Corbridge is under water and the A695 at Farnley is becoming passable in places only with care.
At Hexham, the Tyne has burst its banks flooding Tyne Green.
Severe flood warnings are still in place for the River Tyne at Wellbank Riverside, Corbridge and the Tyne at Corbridge and the Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for the South Tyne at Haltwhistle, Brigwood and Middle Lipwood at Haydon Bridge, Warden, Hexham, Bywell, Ovingham and Low Prudhoe.
The police have advised
- Police urge high sided vehicles not to attempt to use the A69. Severe wind and flood warnings in place across #Northumberland
A69 closed at Greenhead in both directions. Motorists asked not to travel unless essential. Thank you for your cooperation #Northumberland
In short, please do not go out tonight, unless it is absolutely necessary. In addition, there are extreme high winds, meaning a risk of fallen trees and more. If you are in difficulties please call the police and check the environment agency website. I have been out in Corbridge, Hexham and Humshaugh today and I have never seen flooding like it.
