After a long
campaign by staff, parents, governors and myself, I am delighted that Justine
Greening, Secretary of State for Education, has decided to allow Whitfield Church of England
Voluntary Aided Primary School to become an Academy. The last few years have
been difficult for the school and so it is fantastic news that Academy status has
now been secured and that staff and pupils will now be able to benefit and have security going forward. I have
visited Whitfield School on a number of occasions and am well aware of how
important the school is to the community. I wish the school every success for
the future, which now looks bright for Whitfield School.
