Welcome news for motorists

I am so pleased to hear the news that plans to improve the A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle have taken the next steps. The £30 million plans, funded by the Government and from a Highways England pot to reduce congestion, will upgrade, improve and ultimately fully dual the A69, cutting journey times and improve safety for motorists. Drivers will be able to skip two roundabouts on the route between Newcastle and Carlisle to create 18 miles of uninterrupted dual carriageway. Work is set to start in March 2019 and will be finished by March 2020.

Two public drop-in events will be held next for local communities to find out more about the plans, and I would encourage you to go along if you have any questions about the work-
