Parliament this week sees debates on everything from Northern Ireland to the Armed Forces, from the new Immigration Bill to the continuation of the Welfare Reform Bill in committee. I have a number of meetings with constituents and visiting organisations, but I will be most interested in the first debate on Wednesday on the Cities and Local Government Devolution Bill.
On this issue the North East has a big interest as part of the Northern Powerhouse, the desire for greater devolution and the difference mayors can bring.
The key national story is the meeting of the National Security Council on Tuesday. It's topic is Syria. There are no easy or simple options. My thoughts in details are set out here:
