Hexham Constituency Community Champions Awards Winners

I recently announced the launch of the Hexham Constituency Community Champions Awards, which recognise some of the extraordinary achievements of people in communities across the constituency. Since the awards were launched, I have been pleased to honour these outstanding members of the community and every week I will be showcasing more of the recent recipients.

Kirk Barclay and Geoff Cant- for sporting and charitable achievement, walking 100 miles in aid of Tynedale Hospice at Home

Ebony Canney- for charitable achievement through donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust

Tony Hodson- mountaineer and charity fundraiser, for sporting and charitable achievement

Ron Longstaff- for outstanding achievement, passing his advanced driving test at the age of 90, and achieving success in cycling, winning Veterans Road Race World Champion in 1997

Nancy Potts- for charitable achievement, volunteering at the Oxfam Shop, Hexham, and making thousands of canvas bags for sale in the shop

Joan Russell- one of the founders of the Prudhoe Community Allotment and recipient of a Long Service Award from the WRVS for work including delivering Meals on Wheels to the elderly, for service to the community in Prudhoe

Congratulations to all!
