Many congratulations to the Prudhoe Youth Charity Shop,
whose volunteers have received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the
highest award for volunteer groups in the UK. The shop provides low-cost
household goods to people in need and its funds go to youth projects like
Prudhoe’s East Centre. In the last year it has also given financial help to
around 2000 people aged between nine and twenty-one. The team of 24 volunteers
recently received their award from the Duchess of Northumberland and it is very
well deserved.
