Prudhoe West Academy

Last week I jointed staff, governors, students and parents at a special assembly to celebrate the conversion of Prudhoe West First School into an academy under the Wise umbrella. It was great to meet everyone involved with what will be the Wise Prudhoe West Academy, and it was fantastic to see for myself the enthusiasm and excitement everyone has for the future. I have visited the School on a number of occasions, and have been impressed with the great progress the children have made in recent years, especially with maths and phonics. Head Teacher Carrie Davison, and Chair of Governors Richard Whinney, were full of enthusiasm and hope for the future, and it was wonderful to hear the children speak so enthusiastically of their school, their teachers and their learning experience. Founded in 1909 the school has been an important part of Prudhoe life for over 100 years and I am certain that the future is bright.
