The charity visits people in their own homes on referral from agencies including Age UK, Hospice Associations and Deaf Blind Enablement and is the only provider of the service in people's own homes in the UK, as well as visiting in care and medical establishments and in specialist dementia facilities and workshops. Their mission is to reduce loneliness in the region- a huge problem, with over 51,000 pensioners in the North East describing themselves as lonely all or most of the time. So far they have made over 10,000 visits, making a difference to over 770 people. These visits have the potential to lift spirits, make people smile and make a huge difference to their lives- the effect the company of these dogs can have really can't be underestimated.
Wag & Company is such a fantastic charity doing wonderful work in our area, and it is so great to hear about people in the constituency and their dogs who give up their time to make people smile. I hope you can support them and learn more about the charity here-
