What's on in Hexham...

There’s always lots going on around the constituency- here are just a few examples of what’s coming up in Hexham this week:

A Universe Full of Stars, Kielder Observatory, Tuesday 18th July, 8.30pm-11.30pm- A wonderful opportunity to learn from experts about the universe, the Big Bang and much more… The talk will be followed by a tour around the observatory and the chance to learn how to use the telescopes- make sure to get a ticket in advance! 


Jim Malcolm at the Queen’s Hall Art Centre, Thursday 20th July, 8pm- on Thursday Hexham’s Queen’s Hall Art Centre will welcome former Scots Trad Music Awards Songwriter of the Year and three-time Scots Singer of the Year nominee, Jim Malcolm, who will be treating the audience to a variety of traditional Scottish songs, as well as some of his own songs. Considered one of the great interpreters of Robert Burns’ songs, this should be a treat- get your ticket soon before they’re all gone!


Film screening of Airplane, Queen’s Hall Art Centre, Thursday 20th July, 8pm- Also at the Queen’s Hall Art Centre on Thursday evening, there will be a screening of the 1980 film Airplane, about an ex-fighter pilot with a fear of flying who boards a flight in an attempt to win back his stewardess girlfriend. What a great way to spend the evening!


Loughbrow House Open Garden, Sunday 23rd July, 2pm-5pm- As part of the National Open Garden Scheme, Loughbrow House in Hexham will be opening up its garden to the public on Sunday. With a walled kitchen garden, lawns, herbaceous borders and a pond, this is a great opportunity to experience the beauty of a country garden first-hand!


Hexham Abbey Flower Festival, Friday 21st- Sunday 23rd July, 10am-5pm- In what promise to be a wonderful few days for Hexham, the Hexham Abbey Flower Festival will take place this weekend. More than 40 displays will be on show, while there will also be a marquee, stalls, workshops, a barbecue and a bouncy castle. There really will be something for everyone so make sure to go along this weekend and support the fantastic work put in by the Hexham and District Flower Club.

Kirkley Hall Family Fun Day, Sunday 23rd July, 10am-4pm- Fairground rides, mini golf, a barbecue and helicopter rides, as well as free entry to the zoological gardens- Kirkley Hall will be the perfect place for a family day out on Sunday!
