Rail services beginning to get back to normal - Tyne Valley line open and west coast mainline now up and running again

There is now a full service from Hexham to Carlisle, with extra calls at Brampton and Wetheral.

Flooding and landslips caused by the heavy rain from Storm Desmond are affecting services in northern England and Scotland and are expected to do so until at least 17:00 today.
The line between Carlisle and Scotland has now reopened. West Coast south to London is open and running
Trains are now able to run between Carlisle and Scotland. However, for trains to run safely, speed restrictions are in place through the area. Trains will be delayed by up to 60 minutes, this is expected to continue to 17:00.
Trains are still unable to run between Workington and Carlisle.
