Great news for Hexham as the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a grant of £8,900 to the Hexham Book Festival! The Heritage Lottery fund aims to celebrate, protect and look after our heritage, helping projects including museums, historic buildings, local parks and photographic records to preserve our history. The project, entitled 'Changed lives, research and writing project for podcast and performance for young people in Northumberland', will focus on working with young people with low literacy attainment to explore the lives of miners' children during the First World War. It sounds like a fantastic project, and so I am delighted with this news which will benefit young people in the Hexham area.
