During the summer I visited St Mary Magdalene Cemetery in Prudhoe where I met with members of the Prudhoe Local History Society who have been involved in a restoration project to restore the site. The cemetery was closed in 1909 and was left to become incredibly overgrown and neglected, however the group, along with help from the council, the church and grants, have since won awards for their fantastic work returning the site to a place where residents can visit the graves of relatives and where wildlife now flourishes! The group are doing a great job, and I was delighted to learn that apprentices from Essity's Prudhoe Mill have also been helping out with the restoration. Essity is one of the largest employers in the Tyne Valley and it is great to see their apprentices involved- I would encourage you to do the same! Co-operation - the way forward.
