It is always great to see young people taking the initiative to protect our planet, so I was delighted to welcome pupils from Corbridge Middle School to Parliament recently. Izzy, Christina, Calum, Henry and Alfie make up ‘Operation ReCraft’, and competed in the national finals of the Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas competition. The team’s idea to help the planet is to run a sculpture competition in schools using waste materials, something they have already done in their own school. They really impressed the judges, coming first in the regional final, and it was great to meet the team before the national final began.
Corbridge Middle School is doing really fantastic work to work together to protect our planet, recently winning ‘Most innovative school recycling project’ at the LOVE Northumberland Awards. Well done to everyone involved- they are a brilliant example to all of us.
