War memorials are important and historic parts of so many local communities, especially as we mark the centenary of the end of the First World War this year. I was therefore so pleased to hear that Horsley’s war memorial has been restored, thanks to the efforts of members of the community. Funded by Horsley Parish Council and Northumbrian Water, with free sand and cement provided by Jewson Builders Merchants in Prudhoe, the area around the war memorial is no longer overgrown and the lettering has been restored to make it legible.
It is so important that we preserve the memory of those who sacrificed so much for us. Well done to everyone involved in the project- a real team effort and an example of what can be done when communities come together.
