Last weekend I visited
Stamfordham Cricket Club to thank local cricket clubs that have helped to
fundraise for a new pavilion. The new pavilion is expected to be ready in time
for the first game of the season, with a grand opening day scheduled for 27th
May. The facility will be used by the village football team, with the majority
of the £150,000 building cost raised by the village and the Cricket Club. I was
also delighted to purchase a brick as part of the final fundraising push, the
Buy a Brick scheme. Each brick that is purchased will be engraved with the
contributor’s name and will be built into the wall of fame on the front of the
bar of the new pavilion. The pavilion is looking fantastic, and I have no doubt
that it will mark the beginning of an exciting new era for cricket in the area.
